Healing, Alchemy and the Immaculate Conception

This article is about sharing my findings on Healing, Alchemy and the Immaculate Conception, and how they connect to establishing wholeness and healing on all levels. These words do not normally occur together. However, there is much to learn about healing through understanding their connection. I have always been interested in the various methods of healing, and I have found valuable information in a book published by Summit Lighthouse entitled, ‘HILARION THE HEALER The Apostle Paul Reborn’

The healing methods described resonated with me as they related to healing methods put forward by Mary Baker Eddy in her textbook entitled, ‘Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures’, and also in Ernest Holmes book entitled, ‘Science of Mind’. I was already familiar with both these books, but what particularly interested me was Hilarion incorporating the Immaculate Conception into healing treatments. All I knew about the Immaculate Conception was that is was part of the Catholic Church dogma, and this set me off to find out how this concept could be incorporated into healing treatments.

Who is Hilarion?

Hilarion is an ascended master, and very briefly the story of his life began in the New Testament in the Bible. He was Saul who was involved in the persecution and execution of Christians. However, one day changed his life for evermore as he travelled along the road to Damascus. Jesus, who had already been crucified, and then resurrected and ascended, blinded Saul with a bright light. Jesus asked Saul why he persecuted him, and Saul was immediately converted. He committed himself to spreading the word of truth, and henceforth he became known as Paul. However, due to the fact he had badly treated Christians Paul did not ascend at death, and had to return to another lifetime as Hilarion.

During his lifetime Hilarion travelled about praying, and devoting himself to a healing ministry. After death Hilarion ascended, and was free from rebirth. He is now Chohan/ Lord of the Fifth Ray of Healing, Science and Truth.

Alchemy and Healing

Alchemy is best known as a medieval science, the aim of which was to turn base metals into gold. However, spiritual alchemy concerns the transmutation of the lower self to a higher vibration leading to empowerment and spiritual growth as we let go of the ego, and take responsibility for our thoughts, words and deeds. By letting go of fear and negativity we enter into states of wisdom and unconditional love knowing there is a divine power within us to guide us.

This is spiritual transmutation as it is an inner alchemy process which takes place as we understand our true identity is spiritual, and we understand our unity with universal consciousness which unites all life.

Spiritual transmutation is more than just transformation as it involves an inner alchemical process which has been termed the ‘Gold’ of spiritual consciousness.

Healing and Karma

We all have karma to balance otherwise we would not have had to reincarnate. Karma and healing are closely linked. Both Eddy and Holmes focus on the need to have pure thoughts, and to see ourselves as perfect which is the state in which we were created. Eddy encourages us to see ourselves as perfect in the image and likeness of God which is the state in which humans were created. However, she does not mention karma or reincarnation. Holmes would not commit to the relationship between karma and reincarnation. He simply referred to the Law of Cause and Effect.

In the aforementioned book Hilarion tells us he helped Eddy from the spiritual realm by giving her revelations on the science of healing. However, she believed she was inspired directly by God. Both Eddy and Holmes stressed that changing our negative thoughts and beliefs to spiritual ones was necessary for healing. Holmes was influenced by Eddy and also by other teachers such as Emma Curtis Hopkins and Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Eddy gives no specific examples of healing treatments. However, Holmes on the other hand gives clear and very helpful examples of healing a variety of conditions.

Science of Mind describes 5 Treatment Steps which can be found on the internet. Christian Science healing treatments are also described, but not in great detail. Practitioners’ treatments deny illness, and affirm the individual’s spiritual perfection and health, believing illness is an illusion with no power.

The Immaculate Conception

Although the Immaculate Conception is part of the Catholic Church dogma it is not accepted by Protestant Denominations. The belief is that Mary the mother of Jesus was free from original sin from her conception by her mother St Anne. Mary remained ‘full of grace’ henceforth, and thus she was prepared to become the mother of Jesus.

The word ‘immaculate’ means without stain or sin. However, the Immaculate Conception must not be confused with the virgin birth which refers to the birth of Jesus. The science of the Immaculate Conception is based on the teaching of the Old Testament of the Bible which states man was created in the image and likeness of God, and this relates to the teachings of Christian Science. The Immaculate Conception symbolizes pure consciousness which is necessary to be receptive to receiving divine guidance. Truth lies within us, but we have to raise our consciousness to a higher vibration to discover truth instead of looking outwith ourselves for guidance. Just as Mary received divine guidance by maintaining purity of mind then by mental alchemy which involves clearing the mind of all negativity, we too can be receptive to divine guidance. We then experience transmutation as we live by truth, and not by the ego.

Spiritual Healing

Spiritual Healing is about treating the whole person to restore balance and harmony. There are people who go to healers for a specific problem such as back pain, and not all healers explain the need to treat the whole person. Theosophy teaches healing is not meant to be a ‘quick fix’. The result is often a recurrence of the condition as balance and wholeness are lacking. Treating just one condition can interfere with karma as a ‘quick fix’ does not allow a learning experience, and can result in recurrence of the problem at a later date or in a future incarnation.

Hilarion stresses that healing is required on all levels, and ‘you cannot heal in part’ as healing is ‘the integration of the whole man.’ He teaches us healing is a ‘science that must be mastered, and an art that must be skillfully practised’. He explains, ‘healing is a journey leading to transmutation and self mastery’ Even pain and illness give us the opportunity to transmute lower vibrations to a higher level as we take responsibility for our health.

Many lives have been changed as healing has led to an understanding of our true identity and life purpose.

What the Immaculate Conception can teach us about healing our lower bodies.

The Immaculate Conception and the Etheric Body

The etheric body is a blue print of the physical body. This subtle energy body is a vehicle for the life force energy often referred to as Prana or Chi. This energy is distributed throughout our body via meridians and chakras which are our energy system.

This body is easily influenced by negative thoughts and emotions. Thus it is advisable to hold the image of the Immaculate Conception in order to maintain the purity of this body. This entails letting go of pride and negativity and remembering our own purity which is a symbol of the Immaculate Conception.

As we raise our consciousness to a divine level we open ourselves up to divine guidance which brings harmony and frees us from negativity. Therapies such as Reiki Healing and Pranic Healing can be beneficial.

We have to keep in mind all our bodies are interconnected, and if one is unbalanced our overall health can be adversely affected.

The Immaculate Conception and the Physical Body

The physical body is often referred to as the ‘temple of the soul’, and this teaches us to care for our body to ensure it reflects the purity of a perfect soul by living in accordance with God’s will.

The Immaculate Conception reminds us of Mary’s devotion to being of service to God. Just like Mary we have been created with a life purpose, and when we identify our innate skills and abilities we too can serve God by being of service to our fellow beings.

This involves taking care of our physical body to be fit for active service. Care must be taken to adopt practices such as a healthy diet, ensuring adequate exercise, and setting time is set aside for prayer and meditation to connect with our soul/higher self for guidance as to how we can be of service. Visualising what we’d like to achieve is a powerful technique. However, our feelings must be in harmony with our thoughts and desires. ‘Feelings are the language of the soul’. This quote is attributed to Neale Donald Walsch. When our other bodies are in balance this is reflected in our physical body. We will now consider our other bodies.

The Immaculate Conception and our Emotional body

Our emotional body processes our feelings and emotions, and can be considered a link between our physical and mental bodies. It allows us to sense and feel what we experience, and when out of balance we can suffer serious effects on our mental health. The Immaculate Conception represents purity, and by aligning with God’s will we can monitor our thoughts and emotions to bring positive changes.

The Immaculate Conception reminds us of unconditional love and forgiveness, and if we align with these qualities we are better able to cope with difficulties that beset us thus allowing us to be receptive to spiritual guidance just like Mary. It also teaches us about living in harmony with God’s will. As we take time to monitor our thoughts and emotions we understand what positive changes we need to make to be of service to God. This is where a spiritual journal is particularly helpful as it is when we put things in writing we can understand the causes of our negative experiences, and takes steps to put positive changes into practice.

The Immaculate Conception and our Mental Body

Balancing our mental body in the light of the Immaculate Conception involves ensuring our thoughts are in harmony with God’s will. This is really important as our thoughts create our reality. Edgar Cayce believed ‘Thoughts are things’, and his maxim was, ‘Mind is the builder’. Negative thoughts don’t just affect our mental body, but they cause imbalance on all levels. Letting go of fearful, selfish thoughts, and replacing them with thoughts of spiritual qualities such as peace and unconditional love allows us to become a vessel of spiritual purity as we align with God’s will. When our thoughts are pure we become a pure channel for divine wisdom which is what the Immaculate Conception represents.

Take time during the day to monitor thoughts to ensure they remain at a spiritual level as it is easy to become distracted from keeping our thoughts in harmony with divine will as we go about our daily work and chores. Playing spiritual music is ideal for raising our thoughts and emotions to a higher vibrational level. Being balanced on all levels is necessary as we cannot serve God if our whole being is out of harmony.

The Immaculate Conception and Our Life Purpose

The Immaculate Concept reminds us Mary had to be fit for her life purpose which was to be the mother of Jesus. This involved being ‘full of grace’ and obedient to God’s will. This teaches us we too have incarnated with a life purpose to serve God and our fellow beings. This involves taking time to identify our God given skills and abilities, and thus being obedient to God’s will by being of service to those in need. It is when we discover our life purpose that life becomes meaningful and purposeful.

We have to set aside time for meditation to be in the quiet, and ask for divine guidance as to how our strengths and abilities can be put to use for the highest good of all without seeking anything in return. Many charities seek volunteers, and volunteering is a perfect way to serve the less fortunate. Selfless service is rewarding knowing we are serving both God and others. A poem by Teresa of Avila reminds us, ‘Christ has no body but yours, no hands no feet on earth but yours’, tells us how important it is to take care of the less fortunate.

The following mantra is associated with Alice Bailey. ‘I am the soul, I am the light divine, I am love, I am will, I am fixed design’. The words, ‘I am fixed design’ remind us we have incarnated with a life purpose and it is up to each of to identify what our life purpose is. This mantra should be repeated three times.

The ideas and suggestions explored in this article open our minds that healing is not a quick fix, but something that involves us taking responsibility for our health and spiritual growth. It is up to each of us to monitor our spiritual progress, and selfless service is of vital importance. We are all here to support each other on our spiritual journeys, and we can do this when we identify our spiritual life purpose.

Change begins with us, and as we transmute negativity in our lower bodies we experience peace and fulfilment by using our God given abilities to transform others’ lives. This leads to the ‘Gold’ of spirituality as we raise our vibration to a higher frequency. Both Christian Science and Science of Mind remind us how important it is to have pure, loving thoughts.

We all do things we regret at times, and this is where a spiritual journal can assist us in making positive changes. As we work on our own spiritual development we understand the importance of assisting others on their spiritual journey. Mary was an example to us so it is only right that should do our best to be an example to others.

The Immaculate Concept teaches us not to reject other people’s beliefs outright without trying to understand them fully. Truth lies within us, and by prayer and meditation we open ourselves to others teachings which allows us to accept only what resonates within us. It has been said that ‘no religion has a monopoly of the truth’. However, we are all here to support each other. We have all come from the one Source, and need to understand all life is ONE.

Instead of being prejudiced we need to take on board wise words of William Blake who stated, ‘All Religions are One’ as they share a common origin, share the various expressions of a single divine source, and are not separate truths. It is sad that so many people have lost their lives due to religious wars.

I leave this article with a quote from our book, ‘More Words of Wisdom For Everyday Living’ which says, ‘Keep an open mind or you may shut out the truth’.
